Getting To Know Me
I have spent the last two years getting to know myself and now I would like to invite you to get to know me as well. I am Barbara Hutchins: I am strong, funny, determined, passionate, resilient, smart, inquisitive and just getting to know myself.Now I will tell you WHAT I am. I am a wife, daughter, sister, aunt, student in the Combined Honours Bachelor of Arts Program at the University of Windsor. I am also a writer, photographer, an Early Childhood Educator, advocate, Breast Cancer Survivor, abuse survivor, I am also a mother who lost her baby to miscarriage.
Notice I separated the roles and the character traits, I did this on purpose. It is far to easy for us to allow our roles to define who we are and to in turn lose sight of our true identity. I fell into this trap for a very long time. My battle with breast cancer and the self-discovery journey that it lead to through counselling and hard work taught me that I am not my roles. I am who I am not what I am.
This site is a place to introduce you to my portfolio but it is also a place to introduce you to me. As time passes I will be adding to this site and hopefully making it easier to connect with me and perhaps even with yourself.
